A message from the Executive Dean

Dear alumni, partners and friends,

Welcome to the first edition of Insider for 2025.

The year is off to an exciting start at the Macquarie Business School. We recently hosted our Beyond the board: Advancing women in leadership, where over 200 executives gathered to hear from five inspiring women leaders, exchanging insights and strategies for success. Our upcoming Industry Partnership Employability Summit themed ‘The Future of Work: Embracing Change’, which is an exclusive event for our Industry Partnership Program partners, will bring together experts from industry and academia to explore the evolving landscape of employability. Submit your interest to attend this significant event. We’re also looking forward to our flagship Dean’s Excellence Awards in July and Employability Conference in October.

Our commitment to delivering world-class education remains stronger than ever. With the successful launch of our Bachelor of Business, we continue to enhance our curriculum with a strong focus on Work Integrated Learning (WIL), AI and digital skills development. Thanks to our outstanding industry partners and alumni, we will once again offer impactful mentoring events that connect students with real-world opportunities.

On the research front, we continue to shine on a global stage. In the recent 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, we are proud to rank among the top 100 globally and 7th nationally for Accounting and Finance. Notably, on the h-index - a key measure of research influence - we achieved an outstanding 4th place globally in Accounting and Finance. Our dedication to research excellence extends across disciplines, with an improved position in Economics and Econometrics reflecting our continued momentum.

We have also launched new and renewed Faculty Research Centres to tackle critical global challenges. Our researchers are driving meaningful change in areas such as emerging risks, the economics of genomic medicine, health economics, wellbeing at work, building Australia’s innovation capacity, FinTech, and the advancement of nature-positive finance and business.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic year and deeply appreciate your continued support. Stay connected between editions by following us on LinkedIn.

Best regards,

Leonie Tickle
