Message from the Executive Dean

The academic year is well under way and I’m delighted to share the latest updates from the Macquarie Business School.

We’ve kicked off the year with the fantastic news that our research and teaching excellence has been recognised across several major global rankings. In the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, Macquarie rose to the 101–125 band in Business and Economics – with improved scores across every metric, including Industry Income, International Outlook, Research Environment, Research Quality, and Teaching.

The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject further affirm our standing as a world-class business school: we’re now ranked 69th globally in Accounting & Finance, in the top 100 in Marketing and in the top 150 for Business & Management and Economics & Econometrics.

We're thrilled with this recognition and proud to be part of Macquarie University's strongest ever performance in the QS Rankings. We were also delighted to see our staff recognised by two national Australian Awards for University Teaching. These results reflect the collective effort and ambition of our staff and we look forward to building on this momentum throughout the year.

We’ve also welcomed our first cohort of students into a new Artificial Intelligence in Business and Innovation major, offered as part of our Bachelor of Business degree. The major equips graduates with the skills to manage organisational change, drive progress responsibly and create sustainable business models in an AI-driven world. Supported by leading industry partners, it addresses a key gap in the market for non-technical AI education.

The Macquarie Business School’s connections and engagement with prominent experts and leaders of industry continue to inform, inspire and empower our community. As part of the Macquarie Business School Leadership Series, we recently welcomed internationally renowned behavioural scientist Professor David Halpern to campus.

We also marked International Women’s Day with a powerful forum on building inclusive workplaces, featuring panellists including The Honourable Kristina Keneally.

There’s still so much to look forward to – make sure you follow us on LinkedIn for more on the innovative and exciting developments happening at the Macquarie Business School.
