July

Sunday 10 July !
My dear Mrs. M. has been for this Fortnight past very seriously indisposed with a complaint in her Head & Face called Erysipelas, (or St. Anthony's Fire, alias the Rose) which confined her to her Bed for Ten Days. — She is now, however, thank God! perfectly recovered from it, and is able to sit up again as usual, but is still too weak to venture out of the House or to take any exercise.

I this morning made my beloved Elizabeth a Present of a Pair of very elegant fine India Shawls — both long — one being Red – and the other White; having received them lately from Bengal Pr. the Brig Campbell Macquarie !

I also presented our dear little Boy this morning with a beautiful Silver Rattle – which my late beloved Wife recd. from England in 1795 ! —

Tuesdy. 19th. July 1814 —
I went in the Carriage this morning to Parramatta to Breakfast; Examined the Improvements going on there, and the new Female Orphan School House; the Brick-work of which last is nearly finished. — Returned again to Sydney the same day at 4. P.M. —

Tuesdy. 26. July 1814. —
Mrs. M. and myself in the Carriage went to Breakfast this morning wt. Mr. & Mrs. Moore at Moore-Bank, and afterwards went up the River by Boat to visit Mr. & Mrs. Bunker at their Farm near Liverpool; visited Mr. & Mrs. Drummond there on our return from the former. — Left Liverpool again in the Carriage at ¼ past 2 and arrived at Sydney at ¼ after 4 OClock. —
