Decr. 1.
Saturday. — I dined this day with Lieut. Genl. James Balfour, who arrived in Town only two days ago from Scotland.

Decr. 2.
Sunday. — I dined today with Mrs. Campbell (Lord Breadalbane's Mother) at her House in Wigmore Street. — Her Niece Miss Campbell Airds lives with Mrs. Campbell. —

Decr. 3.
Monday. — Dined with the Staff Club.

Decr. 5.
Thursday. — I dined with Mrs. Darby.

Decr. 6.
Friday. — I dined with Col: & Mrs. Oakes.

Decr. 9.
Sunday. — I accompanied Mr. Loughnan in a Post Chaise to dine this day with our friends Mr. & Mrs. Urmston at Chigwell.

Decr. 10.
Monday. — I dined with Genl. Balfour.

Decr. 11.
Tuesday. — I dined this day with my much esteemed friends Mr. & Mrs. Wilson and their amiable Family at their House in Henrietta Street, to which they are just returned from Brighton. —

Decr. 12.
Wednesday. — I dined this day at an early Hour with Honble. Genl. & Mrs. Lumley, and accompanied them afterwards to the Play at Drury Lane Theatre. —

Decr. 13.
Thursday. — I dined with my friend Mr. Forbes at his House in Fitzroy Sqr., and afterwards accompanied in his Carriage to a Ball & Supper given by Mr. & Mrs. Lewis at Hammersmith, where I met a great number of Bombay friends. —

Decr. 14.
Friday. — I dined today with Mr. & Mrs. Farquhar in their House in Portland Place.

Decr. 16.
Sunday. — I dined today with my old and much esteemed Bombay Friends Mr. & Mrs. George Simson at their House in Portland Place, with a very pleasant Party. —

Decr. 17.
Monday. — Finding that there is some probability of my being ordered out to join my Regiment in India this ensuing Spring, I have by this day's Post signified the same to my Brother Charles in Ireland; requesting of him to get leave to come over to see me in January if he can. —

Decr. 18.
Tuesday. — I dined with Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Decr. 19.
Wednesday. — I dined again today with Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and accompanied them to the Play in the Evening.

Decr. 20.
Thursday. — I dined with Mr. & Mrs. Dundas.

Decr. 23.
Sunday. — I dined with Miss Stewarts.

Decr. 24.
Monday. — I dined with Col: & Mrs. Oakes.

Decr. 25.
Tuesday. — I dined with Mrs. Doig.

Decr. 26.
Wednesday. — I dined at Mr. Coleman's. —

Decr. 29.
Saturday. — I dined with Mr. & Mrs. Kensington at their beautiful Country Seat at Putney.

Decr. 30.
Sunday. — I dined with Mr. Forbes. —

Decr. 31.
Monday. — I this day settled with and paid my faithful good Servant Wm. Stewart the amount of my Note of Hand to him for £300 Str., with Interest due thereon up to this date inclusive - by a Draft on my Bankers Messrs. Goslings & Sharpe: — this being the amount of his Savings in India whilst in my Service - and which he has earned most honorably - faithfully - and honestly.

I dined this day with Genl. Balfour. –
