Novr. 6.
Thursday! — As a just reward for his great attention zeal and fidelity, in the honest and faithful Discharge of his Trust and Duty, I this day made a Present of One Thousand Rupees to Jaganath Gunpetjee, Purvoe (or Head Clerk and Cashier) in the King's Pay–Office. — I have also promised to give him an addition of Thirty Rupees a month to his Salary as Purvoe & Shroff as long as the King's Pay Office is continued – and to commence from the 24th. of next month.

Jaganath's Eldest Daughter was this Evening married, and Mr. Grant and myself attended the Ceremony, which was performed with great Pomp and Expence according to the Hindoo Custom. —

Novr. 13.
Thursday! — The Panther Cruiser Sailed this day for the Malabar Coast – Lieut. Mc.Quarie went Passenger on her in order to join his Regiment at Seringapatam.

Novr. 17.
Monday! — News arrived from Bengal by this Day's Post, that, by a late Treaty entered into by The Govr. Genl. of India with His Highness the Nizam, the latter has ceded Territory to the Company amounting to Sixty Lacks of Revenue Pr. Annum. —

Novr. 19.
Wednesday! — The Viper Cruiser sailed this day for Bussorah with the Overland Dispatch, for the present month. — I wrote by this opportunity a Letter to Colonel Brownrigg, the Military Secretary to the Duke of York, enclosing a Letter to him from Lieut. Colonel Montresor; and giving him a Short Statement of my own Services! —

I wrote also by this opportunity to my Uncle Lochbuy – Lt. Col: Dunlop – Capt. Jno. Campbell 51st. Regt. – and my Bankers Messrs. Goslings & Sharpe. —

Novr. 28.
Friday! — I made application this day to Lt. Colonel Lloyd Commanding the 86th. Regt. to request he would be so good as to recommend my Cousin Murdoch Maclaine (– Lochbuy's Eldest son –) to the Comr. in Chief in India for an Ensigncy in that Corps, which he has obligingly promised to do immediately. —
