June 1.
Sunday! — I received a number of Letters by this day's Tappal from Bbay from my Friends & Family at Home received by the Ships of the Season arrived from England on the 26th. Ultimo; – and by which I have the happiness to find that my Family are all very well. —

June 2.
Monday. — Nothing Extraordinary. The Governor & Family dined with Mr. Seton.

June 3.
Tuesday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — I dined with Lt. Col: Reynolds.

June 4.
Wednesday! — This being our good and gracious King's Birth–Day, it was kept at Surat with the usual Demonstrations of honor and respect. — The Governor entertained at Dinner all the European Civil and Military Gentlemen of this Settlement, including the Portuguese and Dutch Residents. — We sat down Fifty two at Dinner. —

June 5.
Thursday. — I dined with Mr. Ramsay

June 6.
Friday. — Dined at Home: no Company.

June 7.
Saturday. — I dined with Col: Romney. —

June 8.
Sunday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — The Governor & Family dined at Home. —

June 9.
Monday! — We had a fall of Rain today – being the first this Season.

June 10.
Tuesday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — The Governor & Family dined at Home. —

June 11.
Wednesday! — Aga Mahomed returned this day from Baroda with Dispatches from the Guicawar for the Governor. —

June 12.
Thursday! — It rained very heavy all this morning – but cleared up and became a fine dry Day at Noon. — Major Forbes set off for Bombay by Land. I dined today at Capt. Skelton's.

June 13.
Friday. — Capt. Wilson set out this day for Bombay by Land. — Thus our Family is now lessened by two. —

June 14.
Saturday! — The Governor sent off Aga Mahomed again with Dispatches for the Guicawar at Baroda –; and also to Colonel Palmer the British Resident at Poona. — The Governor must receive answers to these Dispatches before he can return to Bombay. —

The Govr. & Family dined at Home. —

June 15.
Sunday. — It rained very heavy all last Night and this day. — We now consider the Monsoon to be really set in . —

June 16.
Monday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — The Governor & Family dined at Home. —

Wednesday. — Do. — Do. — Do.

Saturday. — Nothing Extraordinary. The Governor & Family dined at Home.

June 22.
Sunday! — I rode out this morning early with Mr. Grant to "Brighton" on False River – about Three miles from Town, and Breakfasted there with Colonel Reynolds and a large Party of the Gentlemen of Surat; who have here established a regular Sunday Breakfast Club during the Fair Season, for the purpose of Bathing in the River. — We took a very pleasant Ride after Breakfast – and came Home to Dinner.

June 23.
Monday. — Nothing Extraordinary. The Governor & Family dined at Home.

June 24
Tuesday. — Do. — Do. — Do. Mr. Seton & Family dined with us. —

June 25.
Wednesday! — By this Day's Bombay Tappal we were informed of Colonel Murray 84th. Regt., with his Detachment being returned there from the Red Sea, having been obliged to Evacuate Suez in a precipitate manner –; the French having detached a force to take Possession of it immediately after they took Cairo; which they are now in Possession of as well as of Alexandria and all lower Egypt. —

I received Letters by Col: Murray from my friend Capt. Hardyman, who is stationed at present with La Forte in the Red Sea, under the orders of Adml. Blankett. —

June 26.
Thursday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — I dined today with Capt. & Mrs. Griffith. —

June 27.
Friday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — The Govr. & Family dined at Home. —

June 28.
Saturday. — Nothing Extraordinary. — The Governor & Family dined at Home. —

June 29.
Sunday! — Mr. Grant and myself rode out this morning and Breakfasted with the Sunday Club at Brighton.

It was a fine dry morning, but we were caught in the Rain returning Home between 10 & 11 OClock. —

The Governor & Family dined at Home. —

June 30.
Monday. — Nothing Extraordinary. The Family all dined at Home. —
