May 1.
Thursday. We dined with Mr. & Mrs. Fawcett in the Country. — We had Mr. Tasker's carriage. —

May 3.
Saturday. We drank Sillabub this Evening with Colonel Balfour at his Tent on the Ramparts; and afterwards supped with Major and Mrs. Oakes.

This and the two preceding days have had a very monsoonish appearance: — it rained pretty smartly for a couple of hours this Evening attended with a good deal of Thunder and Lightning, and Squalls of Wind; it likewise rained a little the two preceding days. —

May 5.
Monday. We dined with a large Party at Mr. Hallidays in the Country. — We went out in a Carriage provided by Colonel Balfour.

It rained a good deal again today, accompanied with some Thunder and Lightning. —

May 7.
Wednesday. We dined with Captain and Mrs. Blachford in the Country; there were a large Party of Ladies and Gentlemen. — It came on to rain very heavy soon after Four OClock, and continued almost the whole Evening. — We Paid a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Rivett. —

This Evening the Princess Royal Cruizer, arrived from Bussorah, with Europe news overland, as late as the middle of December laSt. —

May 8.
Thursday. We supped with Doctor and Mrs. Crozier in the Country. —

May 9.
Friday. The Bombay Frigate arrived from the Malabar Coast, with a number of Passengers on board. — Mr. & Mrs. Taylor, and Capt. and Mrs. Mackenzie (75th.) come up on the Frigate to Bombay. Capt. and Mrs. Mackenzie live with us, until their own House is ready for them. I made a point to meet them on their landing to invite them to stay with us, which they very readily accepted of. —

May 13.
Tuesday. Mr. Tasker having signified his wishes of coming into his House in Town we removed this day from the Admiralty House into our own old Dwelling. — Captain and Mrs. Mackenzie also moved into their own House. —

May 14.
Wednesday. I dined with Major Bellasis and Mr. Reeves at Sorabjee's Bungaloe [sic] on Malabar Hill; where they gave a Dinner to a large Party of their Friends, in consequence of a Bet lost by the former to the latter Gentleman. —

May 18.
Sunday. I Paid visits this day in the Country to Genl. Carnac, Mr. Halliday, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Fisher, and Doctor Findlay. —

May 19.
Monday. Mrs. Macquarie received letters from her Sister Mrs. Morley from the Cape of Good Hope of date 3d. March, announcing her safe arrival there on the 26th. of February. — These letters were brought by the Heroine Frigate; lately arrived at Madras; with accounts of a Squadron coming out to India, under the command of Admiral Gardiner; supposed to be destined against the Isle of France, alias Mauritius; and that a land Force is to be sent from India under the command of Lieut. General Sir Wm. Medows, who, it is reported is coming out wh. Admiral Gardiner. —

May 20.
[Tuesday] We dined in the Country with Captain and Mrs. Bampton. —

May 25.
Wednesday. I dined with Mr. Crokatt, where we had a large Party. —
