Learning and Teaching Workshop Booking

Foundations in Learning and Teaching (FILT) - Online

Description:

The FILT online program provides a suite of four online modules designed to introduce you to teaching in a tertiary context. Each module runs over a four week period. Using Biggs’ 3P framework as a way of understanding this complex environment, each module will look in detail at a specific aspect of learning and teaching in the tertiary context in Australia. By studying this program, you will be also experiencing the learning environment that many of your students experience, whether they are full-time, part-time, distance or on campus students.

Each module will provide you with an overview of contemporary theories for learning and teaching practice, the voice of experienced teachers and peers, and a rich set of useful resources. These will help build a platform from which you will develop your own teaching approach. The modules are designed to be interactive therefore you will be required to participate in discussions and learning activities during each module, to reflect on your own responses to issues and tasks, and to share ideas with your fellow participants.

As you work through the modules you can track your progress by checking off each activity that you complete. An assessment task is set for each module and an assessment marking rubric is provided.

At the completion of each module you will receive a Certificate of Achievement. While this certificate is not a formal qualification or credit, you can use it to demonstrate your interest in learning about this area to potential employers or educational institutions. By completing four modules from the FILT program you will be eligible for a FILT certificate. There is also an articulation pathway from the Foundations in Learning and Teaching program to Macquarie University's Graduate Certificate in Higher Education. Contact Alison Cameron (alison.cameron@mq.edu.au) at the Learning and Teaching Centre, Macquarie University for further details.
