Angel Popa

Angel’s PhD project explored the domestication process in Queensland fruit fly. He documented natural variation in tolerance to cold, heat, and desiccation in natural populations and tracked changes in abiotic stress tolerance through domestication. He used population resequencing, genome-wide association analysis, and gene expression profiling to understand the genetic consequences of domestication as well as the molecular basis of abiotic stress tolerance. Angel was based at CSIRO in Canberra.
