Ngoc Mai Han NGUYEN is a Biotechnologist with practical and academic expertise in a range of laboratorial and clinical roles. She is very keen on Biotechnology and that’s the reason why she has spent most of her studying time to learn and gain expertise in Genetics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. She received a Bachelors in Biotechnology (Major in Biochemistry and Genetics) and a Masters in Biotechnology (Biomedical) at the University of Adelaide.
During the gap year between bachelor’s and master’s programs, she worked as a Genetics laboratory technician screening for genetic disorders in foetuses and neonates at Women and Children Hospital in her hometown in Vietnam. Han is currently working on her Applied BioSciences PhD project at South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) where she is developing a transgenic sexing strain of Bactrocera tryoni. The ultimate goal of her project is to improve the biological effectiveness of B. tryoni sterile insect technique for pest control in Australia.
