Promoting knowledge and information
The Security Studies and Criminology Travel Grant is to support qualified students to participate in conferences, engagement and eligible scholarly activities to promote knowledge and information vital to the disciplines of security studies and criminology.
There are two one-off awards of $2500 per year to be awarded to two successful students travelling within or outside of Australia to undertake exchange study or to attend conferences as part of their course.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be a commencing or continuing Australian or international student at Macquarie University, enrolled part-time or full-time
- have maintained a minimum WAM of 60, if applying as a continuing student.
Applicable courses
Applicants must be enrolled in Faculty of Arts (FoA) programs, including double degrees, with at least one of their degrees in security studies or criminology. HDR students in security studies and criminology are also eligible to apply.

Applications for Round 2 will open 1 July.
Selection criteria and application documents
Applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- Aim and motivation statement (150 words) to outline their academic and professional goals and their motivation for pursing their chosen field of study.
- Impact statement (150 words) to articulate the personal impact of this grant on the applicant’s academic progression and future career goals.
- Evidence of academic merit: A current academic transcript or other evidence demonstrating strong academic performance.
- Referee statement (optional): a short academic or professional reference supporting your application (maximum one page).
Application rounds
- Applications for Round 2 will open 1 July and close 7 August.
- In 2026, students can apply for the grant retrospectively for travel undertaken in 2026.
