Student societies in action
The School of International Studies proudly supports student societies that engage the campus with thought-provoking discussions on real-world issues.

In March, the Macquarie United Nations Society (MQUNSOC), in collaboration with the School, hosted the 2025 Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations, Satara Uthayakumaran. As part of the UN Youth Listening Tour, Satara led an engaging consultation on the cost of living, climate change, political instability, and political literacy.
Students from Macquarie, UTS, and ACU participated in open dialogue and contributed ideas aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event concluded with students drafting a letter to the Prime Minister, expressing their vision for a better future.
Soon after, MACSEC and MQUN joined forces to launch the first-ever War Games event at Macquarie. Students were plunged into the fictional civil war of Arvania, navigating diplomacy, crisis management, and leadership challenges in a dynamic simulation. The event was a resounding success, with plans already underway for more.
These events highlight the energy and commitment of our student societies in fostering global awareness, critical thinking, and leadership.
