Engaging future students

The School of International Studies welcomed All Saints Grammar for a campus visit featuring lectures, workshops, and a tour.

As part of the School of International Studies' outreach and engagement program, we recently welcomed Year 9 and 10 All Saints Grammar School students for a tailored campus visit. The visit was designed to introduce students to the academic environment and study opportunities available within the School.

The day began with a lecture by Dr Brian Cuddy titled 'What do spies do?', which explored the role of intelligence agencies in contemporary society and the complexities involved in producing reliable intelligence. The session offered students valuable insight into the analytical and research skills developed through international studies.

In the afternoon, students took part in an interactive workshop led by Dr Patricia Koromvokis, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence in language learning, with Greek as a case study. The session encouraged students to reflect on both the potential and limitations of AI in language contexts, while also developing their critical thinking and evaluative skills.

Between sessions, students participated in a campus tour led by student ambassadors, providing a closer look at university life and the facilities available at the University.

This visit forms part of the School's broader engagement strategy, which aims to build meaningful connections with secondary schools and support students in making informed decisions about future study pathways in international studies.
