Hon. Patricia Bergin was a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Chief Judge in Equity of the Court. She was appointed as an International Judge on the Singapore International Commercial Court. In 2021, Hon. Bergin was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia.

Doron Goldbarsht, LLB LLM (HUJI), PhD (UNSW), is an Associate Professor at Macquarie Law School, where he specialises in Financial Crime. Recognised as an authority in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CTF) regulations, he is particularly noted for his expertise in compliance with the global AML/CTF regime and its intersection with financial innovation.

Christian Leuprecht is a Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada and Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Military Journal, Associate Director of the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations in the School of Policy Studies at Queen's University, a senior fellow at the Macdonald Laurier Institute and Senior Research Associate at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, in Brussels. He has held visiting appointments in the United States, Europe and Australia, is an elected member of the College of New Scholars of the Royal Society of Canada and recipient of the Cowan Prize for Excellence in Research at the Royal Military College of Canada. He received the 2024 Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Article in the Journal of Financial Crime and is co-editor, with Dr Jamie Ferrill, of Dirty Money: Financial Crime in Canada (McGill-Queen's University Press, 2023).

David Lewis is a globally recognised authority on financial crime, a recipient of ACAMS Public Service Award and Financial Crime Fighter of the Year. As the former FATF Executive Secretary he led the intergovernmental body for AML/CFT, representing the FATF at the UN, G7 and G20, and coordinating global efforts to develop and assess implementation of global standards for more than 200 jurisdictions. He was previously co-chair of the FATF Evaluation and Compliance Group, responsible for managing the mutual evaluation process for countries, and head of AML/CFT policy at HM Treasury, responsible for issuing regulations and overseeing supervision in the UK. David is a managing director at Alvarez and Marsal. He advises governments, regulators, law enforcement agencies, FIUs and financial institutions on effective implementation of global standards, and preparing for and remediating mutual evaluations. He is also a member of the board for the global non-profit organisation Lawyers Without Borders.

Nic is a Professor of Financial Crime at Cardiff University and has extensive national and international advisory experience, including with the Home Affairs Select Committee, Home Office, National Crime Agency, Law Commission, NATO, United Nations, Europol and CEPOL. From 2023–2024, he served as Special Advisor to the Home Affairs Select Committee during its investigation into fraud.

His research has been funded by organisations including the ESRC, Joffe Trust, StopScams and LexisNexis Risk Solutions. He founded and edits Routledge’s Law of Financial Crime series and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Criminology. He has published six books and over 50 journal articles and contributed to REF Impact Case Studies in 2014 and 2021. Nic has delivered counter-terrorism financing training internationally and provided evidence to UK parliamentary and government reviews on economic crime, fraud, bribery and corporate criminal liability. His expertise has also been sought by leading media including the BBC, Bloomberg, The Times, The Guardian and the Financial Times.

Armina Antoniou has more than 20 years of experience as a risk and legal professional with a broad cross section of Australian and global companies. She is the executive general manager group money laundering risk officer at Crown Resorts.

Joanna is an experienced financial sector regulator. During nearly 20 years working at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, she held a broad range of senior roles, including Executive Director – Financial Services and Wealth and Senior Executive Leader – Financial Advice. She has also advised foreign financial services regulators and taught regulation at the University of New South Wales, Monash University and the University of Sydney. 

She is an Adjunct Professor in the Law Faculty at the University of New South Wales. She is currently a Member of the Tax Practitioners Board, a consultant at law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, and a member of the Compliance Committee for Sandhurst Trustees Limited. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney, as well as a post-graduate law degree (Hons) from the University of Oxford.

Former President of the Law Council of Australia and former Director of the NSW Legal Aid Commission, Stuart Clark is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) by Macquarie University in 2017.

LLB LLM (UFS) LLM (Cantab) LLD (UFS) FSALS, Professor De Koker is a Professor at the La Trobe Law School. He has worked with the Consultative Group, the World Bank and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.

Chief Financial Crime Risk Officer and Executive, Group MLRO. Paul Jevtovic has enjoyed a long career serving our nation in national and international law enforcement, national intelligence, anti-corruption and as CEO of AUSTRAC – Australia's AML/CTF regulator and national financial intelligence unit.

BCOM (UNSW) PHD (MQ), Professor Sheedy is on the board of the Governance, Risk and Compliance Institute and an active member of the Risk Managers' Association of Australia. In 2021 she published her first sole-authored book entitled 'Risk Governance: Biases, Blindspots and Bonuses' with Routledge. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Banking and Finance - rated A* by the Australian Business Deans' Council. Elizabeth work has enabled her to contribute to the policy debate on financial services misconduct, remuneration practices, enhancing financial services culture/conduct and related issues. She is a popular speaker at industry conferences and a regular media commentator, as well as publishing in top international journals.

Michael’s practice covers specialist safety-related regulatory regimes. He is the author of numerous books on health and safety law. Michael is consistently ranked Band 1 in Chambers legal directory and is recognised by Best Lawyers, Legal 500 and Doyle’s Guide.

Partner Forensic at KPMG, brings extensive experience in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF), with over 17 years of practice in Australia, London, New York, and Asia. She collaborates closely with AUSTRAC locally and holds a position on the APAC KPMG leadership team. Sue has provided support to various clients across financial services, casinos, wagering, fintech, and digital currencies sectors.

Claudine Lamond is a financial crime and regulatory risk professional with extensive experience in sanctions, anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, financial intelligence and compliance strategy. Her work spans AML/CTF program design, regulatory analysis, risk assessment, transaction monitoring and the practical realities of detecting and disrupting illicit finance. Her background includes time in government and the private sector. Claudine writes and presents extensively on financial crime, intelligence and regulatory systems, including subjects such as money laundering, sanctions evasion, trade-based laundering, regulatory arbitrage, and emerging financial crime threats.

Senior Advisor at Norton Rose Fulbright Australia, Jeremy Moller acts as advisor to several large financial institutions and corporates in relation to financial crime compliance. He is experienced in dealing with a range of AML/CTF regulators both in Australia and overseas, including AUSTRAC.

Dr Mirella Atherton LLB (Macquarie), BSc, BSc (Hons), PhD (Newcastle), is a senior lecturer at the School of Law and Justice, Newcastle University. Mirella teaches Banking and Finance Law. Her specialty research area is financial crime, with a focus on fraud, scams, and technology.

Dr Birkett, LLB (Dunelm), LLM (Leiden), PhD (Amsterdam), SFHEA, is Head of Law and Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham Dubai, where he also leads the Bachelor of Commercial Law programme. His research focuses on asset recovery and financial sanctions in international, transnational and domestic settings.

Dr Coshott, BA (Dist.) (UNSW), JD, LLM, PhD (SYD), is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Sydney Law School. He is an internationally recognised trust law expert, specialising in using trusts for asset protection and money laundering strategies.

BaCJ (Mount Royal), MPS (Connecticut), PhD (Loughborough), Dr Ferrill is a senior lecturer at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security (CSU), where she is the head of Financial Crime Studies. Dr. Ferrill’s recent research focuses on border governance, transnational cooperation and collaboration.

Sean Foley is a Professor of Applied Finance at Macquarie University. His research focuses on Financial Crime - both in traditional financial markets and the role of cryptocurrencies in supporting emerging styles of financial crime such as the darknet, ransomware and money laundering. Sean's research has been published in leading academic journals including the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance and the Journal of Financial Markets.

BA (Canterbury) PHD (UNSW), Dr Harris teaches Corporate Governance Law and Regulation. She is a leading transnational regulation scholar, committed to tackling financial crime and corporate misconduct in global markets.

Jeanne Nel, BIuris, LLB, LLM – Human Rights (UFS), Grad Cert AML (UJ), PhD – Company Law (La Trobe), is a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation at Monash University in Melbourne. Her research focuses on financial crime and governance regulation, including corporate governance, not-for-profit regulation, gender equality and social and financial inclusion. Recent publications examine director's disqualifications, volunteer directors' duties in charitable companies, and the risk-based regulation of the NPO and charity sectors within the FATF framework.

MA (AML/CTF) (CSU), CAMS, Sheni Iqbal is a PhD candidate (Macquarie) and a financial crime specialist with expertise in AML/CTF, Financial Crime intelligence and regulatory governance. She is passionate about understanding the evolving role of AUSTRAC-centred public-private partnerships in combating child sexual exploitation through intelligence sharing and financial crime disruption. She is particularly interested in collaborative governance, financial integrity and the development of effective and accountable cross-sector responses to emerging financial crime threats.

LLB (HCMCU), LLM (UNSW), MPA (Kaplan), MA (AML/CTF) (CSU), CAMS, Giang Nguyen is a PhD candidate (Macquarie) and a Specialist in the Regulatory Operations branch at AUSTRAC. Prior to joining the public sector, he worked in different AML/CTF compliance functions for CBA and Westpac. Giang is passionate about exploring the regulatory complexities of the Australian AML/CTF regime and its unintended social outcomes.

B.A., Juris Doctor (USYD), Isabelle Nicolas is a PhD candidate (Macquarie) and a practicing solicitor. She is passionate about understanding the evolving ways in which criminals launder illicit proceeds in light of technological advancement and globalisation.

BA, LLB (Macquarie), Samuel Orchard is a Tipstaff and Equity Researcher at the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is passionate about investigating the intersection between money laundering, terrorism financing and new and evolving technological advancements, particularly cryptocurrencies and digital assets.

Ben Scott, BA (Hons) (USyd), LLB (UNE), is a PhD candidate at Macquarie University and serves as a Specialist Advisor in intelligence within the Commonwealth government. He has a background in financial crime compliance, sanctions, and intelligence roles in both banking and law enforcement. Ben's research focuses on intelligence methods, financial crime law, and the history of organised crime.
