Strong QS Subject Rankings for Faculty of Arts
Macquarie University’s Faculty of Arts has been recognised in the strongest QS Subject Rankings to date.
For the first time, Macquarie University has ranked in the world’s top 20, with Philosophy placed 18th globally.
Macquarie University’s strongest ever QS World University Rankings by Subject results mark a significant milestone for the Faculty of Arts. The results highlight outstanding performance and growing strength across key disciplines.
Along with Philosophy, the Faculty of Arts is well represented in the global top 100, with English Language and Literature, Modern Languages and Law listed among the world’s rankings.
Subjects ranked in the 51–100 band include Library and Information Management, Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies, and Classics and Ancient History.
Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Chris Dixon, said he was immensely proud of what the faculty had achieved together, and the continued momentum these results signal for the Faculty of Arts.

This recognition reinforces the critical role the arts and humanities play in shaping informed, inclusive and forward‑looking societies.”
The results reflect Macquarie’s continued momentum on the global stage and the Faculty of Arts’ commitment and contribution to research and education.
