As a research analyst, I participated in several official meetings with experts in the security field, attended diplomatic engagements, and met with various representatives of international organisations, including the United States Coordinator for Counter Terrorism.
A highlight for me was being invited to a reception at the Bangkok Australian Embassy in which I was able to network with professionals working for Alumni, the United Nations and the Australian Government.
Basing myself within Southeast Asia also challenged my perception of what it means to be Australian and a global citizen, igniting a sense of connectedness to the wider international region.
