Backpack to Briefcase: Beer with the Boss

25 May 2020

Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a CEO? How they have the confidence, grit, interpersonal skills and vision to make the tough decisions? Or, are you thinking about getting your first job or what your next step is?

Join us for Backpack to Briefcase – Virtual Beer with the Boss – a professional development event for young #mqalumni where you will be able to connect with each of our ‘bosses’ – senior alumni with impressive job titles and even more impressive career journeys – and listen to their career story, hear their tips and tricks of the trade and ask them any questions you might have.

The concept for Beer with the Boss is simple: relax, grab a drink and speed network with a ‘boss’ in a group. Each session will be timed to 15 minutes, and after, move onto the next ‘boss’.

Following the formalities, you will have the opportunity to virtually network with your fellow alumni attendees.

Join CSIRO Chief Scientist and Macquarie alumna Dr Cathy Foley (BSc(Hons)/DipEd 1981), for a discussion about the critical role of science and technology, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit in a time of pandemic in this free webinar brought to you by the Macquarie University Incubator.

As the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, experts from a range of fields are working more closely and innovatively together than ever before. Scientists from Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, are on the front line: scaling-up and testing vaccine candidates; providing new insights from big data analysis; supporting businesses to reskill and retool; and inventing new industries that will drive Australia’s economic recovery.
