Session 3

Session 3Session 3 (Summer School) is an intensive study period, running in December 2015 through to February 2016. Macquarie University will offer units from the Master of International Relations (MIR)and the Masters of Politics and Public Policy (MPP) program during the summer break.

Students may choose to enrol in either or both of these units. For one unit there will be five full days of face-to-face teaching on campus at Macquarie University.

Information re course materials will be made available in November 2015. You will be given time for preparation and reading before attending the classes. Final assessment tasks will be due for submission at the end of January 2016.


Who should apply

These units are suitable for students who are currently enrolled in the Master of International Relations, Master of Politics and Public Policy, Double Degrees with International Relations, PG Diploma and Certificate in IR. They are also open to cross-institutional postgraduate students who wish to undertake units not available at their home institution.

In some cases, these units may also be appropriate for non-award students who have completed a bachelor degree, and have a professional interest in the subject matter, but are not currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program.

On Campus Unit Offering

IRPG844 The Asian-Pacific Region and Australia

This elective unit studies the international relations of Australia in the Asian-Pacific region, focusing on government policy in foreign, security and economic policy but also including the interactions of NGOs and individual Australians with the global system in such issues as disarmament, the environment, human rights, foreign aid and labour conditions. Australia's bilateral and multilateral relations will also be considered.
