Concept Plan 2009

Property_conceptplan_big

An important step in the creation of a robust platform for the sustainable development of the University Campus is the process to gaining planning surety and effective infrastructure.

The Concept Plan was approved in August 2009 and Macquarie University was gazetted as a State of Site Significance in December 2009.

Detailed precinct planning has already commenced to identify the further detail required for the clearer definition of each 'precinct' of development for urban, infrastructure, landscape and sustainable design.

The development of sustainable infrastructure will be a key focus for Projects and Development, not only to identify issues relating to capacity for development and redundancy but in taking a global view to 'future proof' the University and commercial precincts. The incorporation of water sensitive urban design (WSUD), cogeneration/ trigeneration and reticulated waste water use are among numerous infrastructure initiatives that have been developed by Property and are under review for future projects.

Robust, careful planning and effective infrastructure will underpin competitive advantage and sustainability for the University as 'major developers' into the future.
