Purpose-built for multi-disciplinary study

We are building a bespoke Law School on our North Ryde campus bringing industry and the professions to Macquarie University.

Artist's impression of Law School atriumWe're developing a new, purpose-built Law School on campus, named after former Macquarie Chancellor, The Hon Michael Kirby, in recognition of the contribution he has made to the University and to the legal profession in Sydney and NSW.

The Law School building redevelopment proposes a Law School Hub, which aims to bring industry and the professions to Macquarie University. Serving as a bridge to partners, this will enable relationships that generate additional revenue through projects, sponsoring, scholarships, funded chairs, and philanthropic giving during and beyond the current law campaign.  To generate these revenues, appropriate accommodation is required to support external engagement including meeting spaces, collaboration spaces and event spaces.

17 Wally's Walk (old name C5C) is being stripped back to bare structure and will then be reconstructed with additional floors and part floors.  This will create a revitalised premises for the Macquarie University Law School which will create a unique space for the broader University community.

The lifecycle upgrade and expansion will provide flexibility for workplace, reasearch and teaching as well as allowing adaptability to allow for furture change.  The building has been designed to meet 5 star Green Star certification.

The central atrium area will be enclosed to create a public space offering a unique experience.  The upgrade will also include the creation of a Moot Court room enabling the MQ Law Scool to continue its traditional competitive rivalries with other law schools.

Anticipated project completion Q3 2023.
