Convert files into accessible formats
Macquarie University students and staff have access to SensusAccess, an online, automated document conversion service that converts files into formats such as audio MP3s, DAISY audiobooks, ebooks or Braille.
You can make an accessible copy of a file if you own the copyright (eg, it's your own work), have permission from the copyright holder, if the copyright has expired, or if it's for someone with a print disability. If so you need to agree that:
- the copy won't be shared with others
- you can't find a commercially available version in an appropriate format.
- you abide by the Copyright Amendment (Disability Access and Other Measures) Act 2017 (No. 49, 2017) – Schedule 1 – Uses that do not infringe copyright
To discover more you can watch an introductory video or read the FAQs on the SensusAccess website. They have also created an e-learning course about how to use the product and its advanced features.
