Phased Library Building Reopening - from Monday 18 October

18 to 31 October - Limited study space on Levels 3, 4 & 5
  • Limited, socially distanced, individual study for fully vaccinated Macquarie students and staff. See conditions of entry below.
  • HDR and Postgraduate study spaces. Note: Lockers and HDR kitchen areas are closed
  • Self-service 4 hour laptop loans and self-service printing
  • IT Support will be available via the IT HelpDesk

Conditions of entry

In accordance with NSW Government Public Health Orders, Macquarie University Library is open to current students and staff only. Please observe COVIDSafe protocols.

  • Do not attend campus if not fully vaccinated: unvaccinated persons (over 16 years of age) are subject to NSW Government Public Health Orders
  • Stay at home if unwell or awaiting COVID-19 test results 
  • Check-in via the Service NSW QR code to confirm your attendance and vaccination status
  • Wear a mask: Masks are mandatory in all indoor spaces on campus
  • Maintain 1.5 metre physical distancing: comply with signage for physical distancing and seating options
  • Use spaces for individual study only: no group study
  • Respect maximum seating capacity limits: staff at the door will manage numbers entering the building. If capacity is reached you will not be able to enter, or re-enter, so please take your belongings when you leave
  • Practice good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette: hand sanitiser stations are provided throughout the building and soap and water is available in bathrooms. Please clean your hands before and after using PCs, equipment and collection items.

Unit readings

Unit readings are available via iLearn, by selecting the Leganto link in your iLearn units. If unit readings are unavailable, contact your Unit Convenor. If required, prescribed textbooks can be purchased from a range of book suppliers, including Booktopia.

Find online services and resources

MultiSearch The Library's search platform. When you are off campus log in to MultiSearch for the most comprehensive access to journal articles, ebooks, databases and more. MultiSearch 
Google Scholar When using Google Scholar, use the link on the Library home page to get full access to articles and content the Library subscribes to. Google Scholar 
Unit readings Online unit readings are located in Leganto. Look for the Leganto box in your iLearn units. Academic staff can create reading lists directly in Leganto. Leganto 
Subject & research guides Our librarians have created comprehensive subject and research guides that can help you when researching your assignments. Useful guides on referencing too! LibGuides
StudyWISE Brush up your academic skills with StudyWISE, an iLearn module. It will show you how to structure and write different types of assignments, research, plan and reference effectively, as well as many other skills to help you succeed at University.  StudyWISE 
WriteWISE WriteWISE Peer Writing Leaders and Learning Advisers are available online to discuss your assignments or study issues with you. WriteWise 
Studiosity Studiosity is a 24/7 online writing and study assistance service that provides one-on-one academic study help. Sudiosity 
LinkedIn Learning Staff and students have access to this service (formerly known as Lynda) featuring thousands of video tutorials taught by industry experts covering technology, business and creative skills. LinkedIn Learning
Pure Publications & ORCID support

We run regular Pure training sessions around publications, ORCID and profile building. Our training sessions page will provide the most up-to-date information for faculty communications around Pure training.

There is also one-on-one support and consultations via Zoom, as well as via OneHelp and email.

Resources  

Our guide to Open Educational Resources (OERs) will help you find freely available resources. These are publicly accessible materials, including openly licensed scholarly texts & other digital media, that can be used for research as well as teaching & learning.

O'Reilly Online LearningStudents & staff have access to O'Reilly, an extensive online learning library on information technology, computer science, desktop applications and business.O'Reilly

Click & collect borrowing

Click & collect borrowing is available for Macquarie staff, hospital staff, and postgraduate and higher degree research students.

What to do:

  1. Request item in MultiSearch.
  2. You will receive an email when the item is available. Retrieval times may vary and we thank you for your patience.
  3. Bring a mask & your campus card to the Library, tap to enter, and collect your item from the shelves at the front of the building at the collection times below.

MQ Library is following all NSW government health advice. Face masks are mandatory while in the Library. Please scan the QR code upon entry. Note: the majority of unit readings are available online, see study support below.

HDR/Research support

  • New orders for print materials can be ordered; however, there is a delay in receiving print deliveries due to COVID 19 impacts on postal and delivery services and the inability of staff to work onsite in the Library.
  • Accessing electronic journals off campus. We've created a journal survival guide to help you access content Macquarie subscribes to.
  • Interlibrary loans (document supply). The Library's Interlibrary loan service is unable to supply physical items at present. We can provide digital items for academics and higher degree students where we can source a digital copy. Contact: lib.ill@mq.edu.au
  • Renewing Interlibrary loans. To renew an interlibrary loan, please email lib.interlib@mq.edu.au at least 3 working days before the item is due and we will contact the lending institution to request a renewal. Please note some lending institutions do not permit renewals of their items.
  • Research consultations. Research Librarians are available for individual advice and assistance. Please email your Research Librarian to arrange a Zoom consultation.
  • Online access issues from home. If your OneID & password has stopped working, and you have issues accessing the Library’s eresources off-campus, please contact OneHelp.

Teaching support

  • Using teaching materials in iLearn & Leganto. We've created an information sheet (pdf, 82kb) outlining how to make text, image, video and audio material available to students, while complying with important copyright and licence conditions.
  • Use Leganto to create reading lists. The Library provides reading lists via Leganto, a reading list management system that enables you to create dynamic lists from a range of sources. Find out how to use it.
  • Workshops and embedded support for research and information skills development are being delivered online. Talk to your Research Librarian about available options.
