About the workshop

By the end of the workshop, learners will have a clear understanding of current research on morphology instruction, how morphology knowledge is linked to reading, spelling and vocabulary knowledge, and how to teach morphology to children in one-on-one, small group or whole class settings. This workshop will be useful for primary school teachers, special education teachers, speech language pathologists, and anyone working with children who have reading or language difficulties. Attendance at the related workshops “Understanding Reading Comprehension: From Research to Classroom” and “Teaching Vocabulary to Improve Reading Comprehension” is recommended but not essential.

Session 1: Learners will access to recorded content that they can watch in their own time. This content will explain how morphology is linked to reading, spelling and vocabulary knowledge, and will cover current research on morphology instruction.

Session 2: This live 2.5-hour session will cover how to teach morphology knowledge to children with the goals of improving their reading, spelling and vocabulary knowledge.

Session 3: This live 1-hour follow-up session is an opportunity to consolidate knowledge acquired in the course and to ask any remaining questions.
