Professor Naren Chitty A.M., Inaugural Director of Soft Power Analysis & Resource Centre at Macquarie University, invites you to the 2017 Soft Power Lecture, the talk will be chaired by Professor Martina Mollering, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Macquarie Univeristy.

This year’s lecture will be delivered by Daya Thussu, Professor of International Communication and Co-Director of India Media Centre, University of Westminster, London.

“Soft power of an emerging India”

India’s soft power is on the rise, in parallel with its economic power, as one of the fastest growing major economies in the world. Drawing on the notion of soft power, developed by Joseph Nye, whose focus is primarily on the United States, this lecture will suggest that an ancient civilization such as India offers a more complex narrative of its global presence.
