Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation – Lessons from the trenches and emerging issues

Forensic accounting and financial fraud investigation is the specialty practice area of accounting that describes engagements that may result from disputes or litigation. Corporate fraud has been a persistent global problem in recent years. Whilst every instance of corporate fraud is not committed by management, a majority of fraudulent acts are committed by individuals against their organisations. The aim of the forum is to delve into the most pressing issues facing forensic accountants and fraud investigators from across Australia and gain insights and perspectives on emerging trends facing the industry.

Hear from our panellists discussing topics such as, challenges in compiling financial evidence, regulations and techniques; issues with fraud detection procedures, tracing funds, asset identification and recovery, due diligence, product liability, trademark or patent infringements; code of ethics and standards, litigation and court related issues; forensic IT; future of forensic accounting industry in Australia, to name a few.

The CFO Forum is a biannual event hosted by the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance Macquarie University, to debate on the most pressing issues and challenges facing accounting and finance industry featuring experts from Australia and abroad. This is a premier professional knowledge sharing event in Australia for CFOs, CEOs, Board members and senior executives within the corporate sector.
