Abstract Submissions – Modern Greek Conference

4 June 2018 - 30 September 2018

Connecting and Interconnecting Communities and Landscapes: Reclaiming Greece as a Field of Studies, Teaching and Research in the 21st Century

The Modern Greek Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand and the Department of International Studies: Languages and Cultures Faculty of Arts, Macquarie University are this year hosting the 14th Biennial International Conference from 5-8 December 2018.

This conference aims to re-frame the future of Modern Greek Studies by reclaiming Greek culture as a field of research, learning and community engagement. Participants are invited to explore alternative perspectives on Greece as a renewed field of research through discussion of past and present aspects of Greek Studies and how this has impacted and continues to impact the contemporary Greek world.

Connections and interconnections between ethnic, religious and diasporic communities within the Greek world and beyond, and efforts to build bridges between these communities and universities in the form of study opportunities, research and projects, is also of interest.

Participation is open to academics across disciplines, graduate and postgraduate students, early career researchers and representatives of institutions and organisations, as we explore the multifaceted aspects of Greek Studies as a form of study, research and community engagement, as well as the lived reality of Greek intercultural and interconnected identities.

We invite abstracts for talks on high-quality and original research around re-framing the future of Modern Greek Studies by reclaiming Greek culture as a field of research, learning and community engagement.

Abstracts and subthemes for discussion are listed on the abstract submissions page along with guidelines for how to submit your abstract.

Submission deadlines:
