Join the Macquarie University team in 2020 and battle it out on the field, court, in the pool or on the slopes at one of the many Uni Sport Australia events throughout the year. We’re always on the lookout for our strongest and fiercest competitors to join our teams and bring home the gold!

About

Nationals is a multi-sport, multi-tiered competition that fields teams from a large number of Australian Universities and tertiary institutions. At Macquarie University, we field teams that compete in both the  (Nationals Div 2) and (Nationals Div 1) across a number of sports and divisions.

Listed below are the upcoming Division 1 and 2 Nationals, National Snow and standalone Nationals events for 2020. To learn more about how you can be involved in these upcoming competitions, click the relevant headings below. Please keep in mind that additional single sport Australian University Championship events are also held throughout the year, with dates and details to be confirmed.

Nationals Division 1 and 2

Nationals Division 1 and 2 will be held in Perth, Western Australia from the 26th September - 2nd October 2020.

Over 2,500 competitors from 42 Australian Universities will travel to compete in over 33 team and individual sports across six days of competition. Basketball, Netball, Touch Football, Rugby 7s, Softball, Beach and Indoor Volleyball, Futsal, Table Tennis and Cycling are just come of the sports that will be contested in 2020.

Nationals Athletics

Nationals Athletics will be held in Brisbane, QLD from the 3rd - 5th April 2020.

Approximate cost = $700 - includes 3 nights accommodation, uniform, registration and flights (flights must be booked be each athlete)

Nationals 3x3 Basketball

Nationals 3x3 Basketball will be held in Canberra, ACT on the 16th and 17th April 2020.

Indigenous Nationals

The Indigenous Nationals will be held in Newcastle, NSW from 28th June - 2nd July 2020

Nationals Snow

Nationals Snow will be held in Mt Buller, VIC on the 6th - 10th September 2020

Eligibility and How to Join a Nationals Team

Eligibility

To be eligible to compete in an UniSport Australia event, you need to be a currently enrolled student at Macquarie University during the time of competition. All Macquarie University athletes competing at Uni Sport events are required to sign off and agree to the following:

Trials are held for Macquarie University Nationals teams across a multitude of sports and disciplines, all of which are relative to the competition we have teams entered in. Click through to the relevant competition above for detailed information.

In 2019 Macquarie University Sport became a key partner of the Pride in Sport program committing to further develop and enhance LGBTIQ participation across all Campus Life Sport and Recreation departments. See the media release here

There are university support services and teams in place for any person who has been the target of homophobic, transphobic, biphobic or interphobic bullying and harassment, and/or and vilification while participating in sport and recreation activities with Macquarie University Sport. We also have LGBTQI Ally’s amongst our staff team who can be contacted for support and guidance.
