Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) will re-open in a phased approach, driven first and foremost by our determination to ensure a safe working, exercising and training environment for our community.

Group Fitness classes and Health Club sessions are available as a casual visitation pass of $5.00 per session or 14-day pass for $30 from Thursday 9th July. Group Fitness bookings are essential and we encourage you to book online. If you have further enquiries, please connect with our friendly staff on or (02) 9850 7636.

We'll also continue hosting Facebook Live classes at the MQUSport Facebook page and you don't even need to have a Facebook account to gain access. The classes can be viewed the following day from their scheduled times.


Group Fitness offers a range of classes of varying intensity levels, impact, speed, and choreography; all designed to maximise fun and get quick results. During the shutdown period we will still be offering traditional instructor-led classes online with free live stream classes and no bookings are required.

You’ll be guided through each workout by qualified and highly experienced Instructors. There are classes to cater for all fitness levels, ranging from our most popular Les Mills programs, Dance classes and Yoga. Our Instructors will also provide at home equipment alternatives so you will be getting the best workout you can!

Group Fitness Online Classes

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) will be hosting the following weekly classes on Facebook Live from Monday 8th June. Classes will remain available for viewing up to 24-hours after their scheduled time.

When will MUSAC open?

Monday 15, June 2020:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00am – 8:00pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: 6:00am – 6:00pm

What will open?

Noting the limitations on indoor gatherings of up to 100 people the following program offerings have been prioritised:

  • Health Club
  • Group Fitness Studio
  • Swimming Pool (50m and 25m)
  • Recreation and Sports Hall (Badminton only)

A limited Group Fitness timetable will be released allowing 10 people per class. In conjunction with this reduced timetable, we will continue to offer free online group fitness classes for our members to enjoy. Please click here to view both the limited and online timetables.

This phased re-opening will provide us a valuable opportunity to assess our new COVIDSafe processes and lead to further facilities, services and programs being reintroduced as well as an extension of operating hours as government restrictions are eased further.

Currently, our children’s programs, sport competitions and club/group bookings remain suspended. As restrictions are eased by Government, we will provide further guidance about when and how these programs will resume.

A 30-minute core conditioning bodyweight workout with no equipment required. Strengthen the abs 360 degrees, targeting upper, lower abs and obliques.

LES MILLS BARRE®A ballet inspired style of training that works to shape and tone your whole body. We begin with a warm-up followed by a sequence of cardio-esque training, building to a cardio peak. This sports-inspired cardio workout is great for building stamina and improving your speed, agility, fitness and strength. A high-energy interval training class that combines athletic aerobic pursuits with sports drills, strength and stabilization exercises. All fitness levels are welcome with high and low impact options provided. This is a workout that will make you sweat, burn calories and have fun!

A fusion of yoga, tai chi, and Pilates style workout routines set to music. BodyBalance® builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centred and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

The original barbell class designed to improve strength and endurance in your major muscle groups. You can burn up to 560 calories per class. BodyPump® strengthens and tones your entire body by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, bench press, and bicep curls performed to motivating music. A 30-minute workout which is based on cutting-edge scientific research. This program is the ultimate way to get a tight and toned core. With dynamic training that hones in on your abs, glutes, back, obliques and "slings" connecting the upper and lower body. This workout will leave you looking good and feeling strong.

Flex & Mobility

A 45-minite low impact bodyweight session with gentle dynamic exercises and stretching to improve flexibility, strength, movement and mobility.

Groove & ToneGet the heart rate pumping as you boogie to a variety of dance flavours. You'll hit the living room dance floor with a mix of moves and grooves that will srengthen and tone your body. A fun class for everyone with optional light weights.

Hatha Yoga

Focuses on asanas (postures) which enhance a healthy spine, improve digestion and can relieve effects of chronic stress, bringing the mind to a focused state to bring harmony into your daily life. This class is predominantly slow-paced and gentle and provides a good introduction to basic Yoga poses which aid to strengthen the body, improve flexibility, and calm your mind.

Vinyasa Yoga

A flowing style of yoga that links the movement to the breath. Poses run together smoothly to create a dynamic seamless moving meditation. Vinyasa yoga includes sun salutations, alignment focused strengthening and stretching poses and finishes with a refreshing relaxation. Vinyasa is an energetic and motivational way to cultivate self-awareness and a healthy body and mind.

Yin YogaPerfect for beginners and advanced Yogis alike, a Yin practice involves holding poses for 3-6 minutes at a time to challenge and enhance the physical body and the mind. By deeply connecting to breath Yin works with the meridian lines of the body accessing connective tissue (fascia) to give stress relieving and flexibility benefits. LowEasyLowSlow

Dance like nobody is watching – or like everybody is watching! Ditch the workout and start a party in your home! This dance fitness class is the latest and greatest craze, which works every muscle in your body. Dance classes include several dance styles such as pop, salsa and hip-hop. This class is easy to follow, fun and effective.

How to Book Your Group Fitness Class or Session:

Bookings are available at a rate of $5.00 per session, or $30.00 for a badminton court booking (maximum of four people)
