Whether you are looking to keep active, maintain well-being or play sport at a competitive level, we offer an array of sporting options available for Students, Staff and members of the local community.

Martial arts

Bored of the same old workouts or fitness classes? Learn self-defence techniques from professional instructors. Macquarie University Sport offers a wide range of martial arts styles. 

What's on offer? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai kickboxing and Boxing.

Learn courses

Try something new! Macquarie University Sport coaches will help you learn that sport that you have always wanted to play. Our professional coaches are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 

What's on offer? Rowing, Squash, Volleyball, Fencing and badminton.

University sport

Want to represent Macquarie at University Games? We are looking for fiercest MacWarriors to represent Macquarie University, either as an individual or part of a team, at university games. The games, which include the Eastern University Games, the Australian University Games and University Snow Sports are annual events regularly attract over 7,000 students from over 40 universities, with over 30 sports on offer. Check out the webpages for more information on dates and selection trials.

Social sessions

If you're looking to play sport, but can't commit to a team or a permanent time slot, social sessions are for you. There is no need to book ahead, just turn up for a game. 

What's on offer? Basketball, Badminton, Squash, Volleyball, Futsal and Table Tennis.

Sport clubs

Become a MacWarrior in sport.

The easiest way to play sport or get fit is to join one of Macquarie University's sporting clubs. Each club competes in different levels of competition, so you can compete for warrior pride or just for fun.

Members compete regularly in local, regional, state and national level competitions.


Macquarie University Sport offers a range of sporting tournaments throughout the calendar year to students, staff and community.

What's on offer? badminton, basketball, table tennis, futsal and more.

Intercollege sport

Each year Dunmore Lang College, Macquarie University Village and Robert Menzies College compete for the ultimate sporting glory and bragging rights as the best sporting college.

Events are held on a monthly basis, with sport representatives from each college organising the teams.

Sport and activities hub

Macquarie University Sport and Activities Hub is a place where you can borrow sport equipment, try a new activity, participate in an event and meet new friends.

The Hub is located in the Atrium - Ground Floor, C10A Building. Come and visit the friendly staff and try something new.

Social sport

Macquarie University Social Sport competitions are an opportunity for students, staff members and the general community to take part in competitive and non-competitive recreational sport.

Choose from touch football, netball, fast5 netball, 7-a-side football, tennis, basketball and futsal.
