News & Events:
The Health Club team are excited to deliver our first Olympic lifting educational offering. This OLY lifting seminar is open to members of the gym who are interested in developing their Olympic lifting skills as part of their ongoing training.
WHEN: Monday 29th April, 2019
- Beginners (no experience required) $10 - 6:30pm for 90mins
- Intermediate (require basic understanding of Clean & Jerk, Snatch and accessory lifts) $10 - 7:30pm for 90mins
- $17.50 if you wish to attend both

The Health Club is everything you imagine it to be and more! With a 400m2 weights room, packed with modern strength equipment, pin-loaded machines and free weights; a fully-equipped cardio theatre containing over 100 new pieces of technology integrated equipment, ranging from treadmills, stairclimbers, rowers, upright and recumbent bikes, ski ergs and more; a specialised stretch and flexibility space, a female-only training area equipped with private weights and machines; two outdoor training zones fitted with an Ironedge rack system and equipped with dumbbells, kettlebells, battle ropes, sledge hammers and tyres; and a lifting room with 5 lifting platforms for Olympic and powerlifting enthusiasts, geared with bumper plates, the MQ Sport Health Club has all the equipment, whatever your training level or needs.
Access to the Health Club is an inclusion of membership for Macquarie University Sport members. The Health Club at any given time will offer a number of programs throughout the year, which will have an additional cost and are detailed here.
As a new member of Macquarie University Sport, you are entitled to a Fitness Starter Pack within your first month of membership – 3 x 30-minute introductory fitness sessions with a Personal Trainer, catered to your exercise history and fitness goals. These sessions are designed to help provide you the basics, as you undertake your fitness journey with us and become more familiar with the club. Information on how to redeem your Fitness Starter Pack is listed below.
Health Club Facilities:
The Macquarie University Sport Health Club has a number of facilties, all available for member use. These facilities include our weights room, cardio theatre, stretch and flexibility area, female only training area, and outdoor training and lifting zones.
A 400sqm weights room with modern strength equipment and free weights.
Whether you are a first-timer or a treadmill addict, our collection of more than 100 brand new equipment – from treadmills, stairclimbers and rowers to upright and recumbent bikes – will keep you inspired and motivated.
All of our cardio equipment comes from the latest collection from Matrix and features:

- 15" integrated LCD screen, intuitive operation
- 'Vista Clear' television technology
- iPod compatibility for playback, charging and on-screen playlist selection
- Compatible with Nike and iPod for simple workout tracking
- Integrated three speed personal fan
- Compatible with the immersive 'Virtual Active' programming
Stretch and Flexibility Area
To ensure you’re able to warm up prior and cool down after workouts, we've developed an additional stretch and flexibility area with enough space for you to stretch and flex to your heart's content!
Female Only Training Area
For women that prefer to train alongside other female health and fitness enthusiasts, our female only training area is equipped with its own private weight and machine area.
Outdoor Training and Lifting Zones
Our outdoor training zones are fitted with an Ironedge rack system as well as a host of free weight equipment; including, dumbbells, kettlebells, battle ropes, sledge hammers and tyres. We have everything you need to keep your training sessions fun and exciting!
Our lifting room caters for those who want to focus on Olympic and powerlifting; with bumper plates as well as Ivanko powerlifting plates, we provide 5 lifting platforms plus free space to get the job done.
Train with a Towel Policy:
Members and patrons are kindly reminded that a towel is a requirement in the Macquarie University Sport Health Club.
For health and hygiene purposes it is imperative that a towel is used when equipment is in use.
Those who do not have a towel will be asked to either purchase a towel from the Health Club front desk, if they wish to continue to train.
