Martial Arts

Teach respect, character and self-confidence through the art of discipline

Have your child learn self-defense the right and safe way in an inclusive environment through Macquarie University Sport's Martial Arts program.

Our children’s Martial Arts program builds confidence, discipline and focus in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Classes are taught by instructors with over 30-years teaching experience.

The programs are designed to promote physical fitness, self-defence and build character, ultimately introducing students to a new way of life through skill development and progression.

Our taekwondo program offers beginner and intermediate classes to children between the ages of 5 and 16-years. Classes are held weekly across the calendar year (school terms not inclusive) to allow for continuous progression, allowing any newcomer to join at any time.

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques, with classes at Macquarie University Sport are structured to develop skills incorporating games, drills and passive demonstrations.

As children build confidence and advance to new level belts, they will develop respect both for the teacher and fellow students by showing control, compassion and compliance. It's these attributes that can help transform Martial Arts students into role models and leaders in other aspects of their lives, including school and within their own community.
