Work Experience in the MAC
Work Experience Program
Please note - unfortunately the museum's Work Experience Program will close during 2019 as staff prepare the collection to move to a new location. We look forward to accepting students again for this valuable program in 2020 in the new museum.
This popular program is open to school students in Year 10 and 11 and offers an experience in the work of museum professionals, ancient historians and archaeologists. Students contribute to the management and maintenance of the artefact collection, the administration of the museum office and the outreach and education programs. You may conduct research on the collection, handle and identify artefacts and be involved in the museum's conservation projects, exhibitions or field laboratory projects. The Work Experience program allows students to develop their skills of observation, investigation, logic, reasoning and interpretation as well as communication and team work through interacting with our stakeholders including museum staff, Ancient History academic staff and students, school groups and members of the public who visit the museum.
Places in the Work Experience Program are limited and interested students are encouraged to contact the Museum early. Please send a 1-page resume and a cover letter outlining why you would like to attend Work Experience at the Museum of Ancient Cultures to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also include your preferred dates and the name of your school.
