Amber has been with the Student Diversity and Inclusion team at Macquarie since July 2017, She began as the Student Engagement Officer for the Respect. Now. Always. programme. Since then, her work with the team has evolved to also include the development of monitoring and evaluation tools for Respect. Now. Always. Amber currently holds the inaugural post of Project Officer, Partnerships. Now. Always., and is thrilled to bring a strong commitment to community building to this role.
Amber holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University in the United States, and has nearly completed a Master of Policy and Applied Social Research here at Macquarie. Her background includes community organising, advocacy work, and challenging the status quo. She has experience in a range of NGO positions including health care enrolment in the United States, state-wide policy development and communications, and post-prison mentoring for women. Amber holds qualifications in Youth Mental Health First Aid, and utilises trauma-informed approaches in her work.
Amber’s passion to create social change is underpinned by knowledge related to the ways traditional power systems contribute to oppression and injustice. She is dedicated to elevating the voices of those who have, for too long, been silenced as a crucial component to creating just and equitable communities.
