About us

The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences is home to the University’s cross-disciplinary activities in the broad area of health and human sciences and practice.

The faculty comprises the:

  • Macquarie Medical School
  • School of Psychological Sciences
  • School of Health Sciences and Nursing
  • Department of Chiropractic
  • Department of Linguistics
  • Australian Institute of Health Innovation.

We offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and educate about 20 per cent of the University’s coursework students.

The faculty employs more than 500 staff and operates a budget of more than $185 million.

Our research strengths are:

  • clinical sciences, especially cancer, clinical trials
  • health systems, patient safety, health informatics and public health
  • musculoskeletal sciences and physiotherapy
  • neurosciences and human sciences, including:
    • clinical neurodegenerative diseases

What you will do

The Head of Macquarie Medical School and Dean of Medicine is a unique strategic leadership role that:

  • leads the clinician network within the University’s health service
  • drives the intersection of education, research, clinical care and innovation
  • fosters strategic partnerships in Australia and internationally in support of the strategic objectives of the integrated health enterprise.

You will lead clinical and biomedical academics and clinicians who are united in the mission of delivering:

  • transformative education
  • impactful research
  • outstanding patient care in our health services and with our partner facilities.

You will:

  • demonstrate strategic leadership through faculty planning and development, ensuring alignment with the Macquarie University Health and University-wide strategies.
  • lead the ongoing integration of academic and clinical functions within the school.
  • develop and manage the school’s strategic partnerships, and build its reputation.
  • oversee the effective administration of the school’s budgets and resources, ensuring accountability and compliance.
  • provide transformational leadership and foster a collegial, high-performance culture.
