Professor Tom Smith
Professor Tom Smith is one of the leading finance academics in Australia and has been ranked as the number one finance academic in Australia and New Zealand by both the Journal of Financial Literature and the Pacific Basin Finance Journal. Tom is the leading researcher in Environmental Finance, Asset Pricing Theory and Tests; Design of Markets – Market Microstructure; and Derivatives. Tom has supervised over 50 PhD students to completion and his PhD students have over 50 tier 1 papers in their own names.
Jing Shi is a Professor of Finance in the Department of Applied Finance at Macquarie University. Prior to that, he held position at the Australian National University and RMIT University. Professor Shi’s main research interests are in the areas of empirical corporate finance and investments. His research publications are in a broad range of leading internationally journals, including Journal of Political Economy, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science and Strategic Management Journal.
Martina Linnenluecke is the world’s leading Professor of Environmental Finance. She leads the Environmental Finance Centre which collaborates with researchers from leading institutions including London Business School, Mannheim Business School, TU Dresden, INSEAD, Vanderbilt, NYU, and Columbia University. Martina’s research interests focus on corporate adaptation and resilience to climate change impacts. Her expertise in the field has been demonstrated through a number of prestigious awards, such as the Peter Brownell Manuscript Award as well as the Carolyn Dexter Best International Paper Award at the Academy of Management Conference, the leading conference in the management field. She is the author of the book "The Climate Resilient Organization", and has extensive experience in working with government and industry related to organisational climate adaptation strategies, assessments and planning.

Gary Tian is Professor of Finance in the Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies at Macquarie University. He was a former Professor and Directors of HDR and Research in the Department of Finance and founding Director of the Centre of Business Research in China at Deakin Business School. He was also former Professor of Finance and Director of Chinese Commerce Research Centre at Wollongong University. Gary’s research interests focus on corporate finance including political connections, CEO compensation, bank lending and informal finance, investment efficiency and mergers and acquisitions and audit opinions and auditor choice. Gary has published in top international finance journals and he has won many awards for the quality of his research.
