Call for Expressions of Interest for Casual Academic Appointments in 2019

In accordance with the Employment Agreement, Expressions of Interest are now being sought to participate in a pool of candidates to assist with casual teaching in the 2019 academic year.

This request for EOIs does not indicate that you will definitely receive a casual academic appointment, rather that you are available and interested if the need to engage a casual academic staff person arises.

If you would like to be considered for a casual academic position should it arise, please apply here whether or not you have previously been appointed.

2019 Ancient History Teachers' Conference: Using Sources – Old and New

When: Monday, 6 May, 2019 from 8.30 am – 4.30 pm.

Where: The Art Gallery of NSW

We are delighted to present a fabulous Ancient History Teachers conference themed around the use of ancient and modern sources.

The primary focus will be on Pompeii and Herculaneum, and speakers will include two of the most renowned scholars in this field: Professor Alison Cooley, author of Pompeii and Herculaneum: A Sourcebook (2014), and our own Professor Ray Laurence, author of Roman Pompeii: Space and Society (2010) and Pompeii: The Living City (2006).

PLUS – we are delighted to feature Professor Anton Powell on Sparta. Anton is the author of Athens and Sparta: Constructing Greek Political and Social History (3rd edition 2017) and the editor and co-author of the two-volume Wiley-Blackwell Companion to Sparta (2018).

Other world-leading professors will speak on Egypt, Alexander the Great, Persia and Rome – including Professor Ian Worthington, Dr Laurie Pearce from the University of California Berkeley and Dr Susanne Binder. The program will be rounded out with short presentations on innovative learning and teacher-support materials.
