MGSM student support

We support every MGSM student with a far-reaching range of resources, from an extensive induction program designed to prepare you for postgraduate study, to a complete Student Services Centre on campus and a suite of services online.

Our MGSM Orientation Day will introduce you to the school environment and prepare you for postgraduate study, providing all the information you’ll need to make your MGSM journey as smooth as possible. It is also a great opportunity to meet your fellow students.

Student Services Centre

The centre provides everything you need to get the best start to your program of study and acquire the skills required to go further, both professionally and personally.

We offer advice on all aspects of your award program and our staff can support your own proactive study management, with assistance in changing, deferring or progressing to a higher program, choosing which units to study, confirming your timetable and much more.

Management internship

The Management Internship (MGSM955) is an elective unit of the MBA program that offers eligible students the opportunity to work on a current business issue as a project two days per week for a period of 10 weeks at the host organisation’s office. The internship allows students to provide management consulting services to an organisation, putting theory into practice, and learn about a new business or industry first hand. During the internship, an academic who specialises in the subject matter actively supervises students.

Internships are diverse in nature and our students have worked on the following types of projects:

  • supply chain and operation management
  • corporate social responsibility and sustainability
  • business innovation and disruptive technologies
  • marketing/business strategy and planning
  • process and performance improvement
  • financial modelling
  • change management and organisational strategy.

If your organisation is interested in hosting an MBA intern (unpaid) to solve some business issues from a fresh and creative perspective, please contact MGSM careers for more information.

The Living Case Study

The Living Case Study, also known as Management Consulting and Research (MGSM933), is an intensive and richly rewarding unit, where a small class of high-achieving MBA students work as management consultants on a major strategic project offered by senior executives from our corporate partners.

Student exchange

Your MGSM experience is not limited by classroom walls, or by international borders. Opportunities exist to participate in student exchange programs while studying at MGSM where you can complete part of your program with one of our overseas partner institutions. Exchange programs range from two weeks to four months in length, allowing you to study while immersed in another culture and earn credit towards your MGSM program.
