Introduction
In 1996 Macquarie University established a visual identity which incorporated a logo, positioning statement (Australia’s Innovative University) and the design element of the Macquarie Lighthouse within the star Sirius. Corporate colours and fonts were also specified. Since 1996 the usage of these elements by the University community has been variable. However, the conditions within which universities now operate have changed. In the current competitive environment it is vital that our visual identity and strong branding position are clear.
To this end, the following updated standards have been set out as the basis for the design and layout of all University:
Advertisements for
- courses
- functions
- recruitment
- seminars
Electronic materials
- PowerPoint presentations
- websites
Publications, including
- banners
- brochures
- posters
- presentation folders
- report covers
Stationery
- business cards
- facsimile cover sheets
- letterhead
- “with compliments” slips
Adherence to these standards is essential to ensure that the University’s image is strong and easily recognised. To maintain the integrity of Macquarie University’s image in the community the standards outlined in the 2004 Macquarie University Visual Identity Guide must be followed. As a member of Macquarie University you have a commitment to maintaining a consistent visual identity for our University.
