Starting University
Making the Transition
Congratulations – you have commenced your study at Macquarie but there may be things that you are still unsure of.
University will differ from your previous educational experiences in several ways. You will find styles of teaching and learning (being in lectures and turorials) are probably new to you, your relationship with staff will be different from that with school teachers and you will be doing much more independent study.
The campus is large and it can take a while to find everything – it's a bit like a small town. And of course you will need to become familiar with the jargon used at university and who does what on campus. This will all help you settle in.
And of course there is the Macquarie Mentor Program where you can ask any questions about life and study at university and get the experienced students' perspective.
