Advice for Parents

Although at University students are expected to be much more independent than at school, they are not completely on their own in a system that doesn't care.

The Macquarie Transition Program held Academic Orientation days just before the commencement of classes to assist first year students.

Find out about:

  • Free services available to students at University, eg learning skills seminars on getting organised, note-taking, essay writing, coping with stress and many others.
  • The library and its staff and facilities.
  • University email and on-line learning.
  • The Campus and its facilities.
  • The University by meeting staff and students from your childs Division of study.
  • Student Mentor Program.

Parents are welcome to come to Macquarie University and walk around the campus. Visit the Library, Museums and Collections, Art Gallery and the Sculpture Park (see http://www.mq.edu.au/community/)
