Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton welcomes Stephen Brammer as the new Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics.

Following an international search, I am delighted to announce that Professor Stephen Brammer has been appointed Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Professor Brammer’s appointment will take effect from 2 January 2017.

Professor Brammer is an industrial economist by training, and holds a Bachelor, Master’s and PhD in Economics from the University of East Anglia. As an internationally distinguished researcher, Professor Brammer has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles in many of the leading journals in business and management studies including the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Studies. His research has been cited more than 7000 times according to Google Scholar, and he has held visiting positions at Lund University in Sweden and George Washington University in the United States. Professor Brammer has a demonstrable commitment to mentoring and professional development, having supervised 15 PhD students to completion, and led numerous development workshops for early career researchers.

Throughout his career Professor Brammer has contributed significantly to academic leadership within the scholarly and professional community. He is a former president of the International Association of Business and Society, and an active member of the Academy of Management, where he has served as secretary, representative at large, and newsletter editor for the Social Issues in Management Division, as well as leader of the division doctoral consortium and a panel member for the junior faculty consortium. He currently serves as an associate editor at the British Journal of Management, and as a member of the editorial boards of Business & Society and Business Ethics Quarterly. Professor Brammer is an experienced academic leader and a thought-leader in his field, and I am certain he will make an outstanding contribution to the Faculty of Business and Economics at this University.

I am grateful to Professor Jameson for his exceptional leadership of the Faculty over the past seven months, and I look forward to working with him and Professor Brammer in the future.
