At any given time, a number of initiatives are being undertaken simultaneously to improve the sustainability performance of Macquarie University. We encourage our staff and students to have a say in the practices and policies of Macquarie University.

Action Groups
The findings of the State of Play (pdf) document, in conjunction with round table discussions at the initial Sustainability Working Group meeting, identified 15 aspects of Macquarie University that needed to be addressed to improve the sustainability performance of the University.
The identified actions incorporate all aspects of MQ in order to achieve an identity of sustainability. That is, actions fall into several categories:
- campus management and operations
- teaching and learning
- research
- human resources and personnel
- reporting and accountability
- procurement
- planning and development
