Learning and Teaching
Macquarie is currently undertaking two tasks simultaneously which look to ensure the best possible academic experience for our students. This is being done through the Office of the Provost’s Review of Academic Program and the Learning and Teaching Centre’s Curriculum Renewal Program. Collaboratively, these two projects will define graduate capabilities, and reduce and simplify the number of courses and degrees and progression requirements available through Macquarie. Sustainability@MQ team members are actively involved in the LTC project to define graduate capabilities. Click here for more information on this particular project.
The Learning and Teaching Action Group has been critical in embedding sustainability into the principles of the Learning and Teaching Plan, as well as working with both of the above project teams to ensure sustainability will be included in curriculum changes.
The biggest impact universities can have on the future of our planet is through approaches to learning and teaching that equip graduates with the skills they need to actively contribute to economic, social and environmental sustainability in all facets of life. This can be achieved through active participatory learning, creation of shared experiences and the development of a collective vision of sustainability which ultimately will help reshape the world.
The revision of the Learning and Teaching Plan demonstrates Macquarie University's commitment towards preparing graduates to become future global leaders by embedding concepts of sustainability throughout the curriculum.
