About Us
Sustainability@MQ, the Sustainability Office of Macquarie University, was set up in 2007 to improve the sustainability performance of the University and to provide a platform to embed sustainability into the University's culture. The initiative is both a response to external sustainability reporting requirements, and to demands from students and staff that their university become more sustainable.
Specifically, Sustainabilty@MQ aims to:
- monitor and reduce Macquarie University's ecological footprint;
- foster innovation with regard to campus management and operations;
- provide a focal point for driving and supporting learning and teaching on sustainability across campus;
- facilitate linkages and networking amongst students, researchers and other bodies engaged in sustainability
- establish partnerships and networks to champion sustainability and learn from the experience of others; and
- take responsibility for the formal reporting (NSW Government yearly reports; Australian Government baseline studies on sustainability) and communication (campus review; national media) of Macquarie University's performance and innovation in this area.
