Student tips for O Week
Orientation Session 2 2017
Orientation is the start of your journey at Macquarie, your introduction to life with us, and a showcase of our fun, vibrant and friendly community. We welcome all new and returning students to join us during this week . We'll celebrate the start of a new session, explore what's on offer for the session, and help you to embrace campus life before classes begin the following week.
Most programs now have online enrolment which you should be able to complete before you come on campus for O Week. Enrolment support is usually available on campus in MUSE for a few weeks before classes start. If you need help, you can see here or check the knowledge base for answers to get you started.
What should I attend during O Week?
Every student is welcome at every event during Orientation. Here are our five top tips for planning your O Week:
- Check your emails for information about your Faculty Welcome Day. This is the best day for you to attend to meet people in your program, and all new students are encouraged to attend their faculty welcome session. If you're a current student, you should explore the activities on your faculty day to help re-orient yourself to Macquarie.
- If you're a new international or postgraduate student, you'll receive additional invites to events just for you. You should plan to come to these in addition to your faculty session; they're a great opportunity to network and to find out about the dedicated support Macquarie offers during your transition.
- Life is all about balance, so try everything! We have lots of academic activities but don't forget about the social events and tours, which will run daily through O Week and Week 1.
- Be ready to ask questions. We've dedicated almost 2 hours during your faculty welcome for you to ask staff, student representatives and your Mentor all your burning questions about life and study at Macquarie. If that's not enough time, you can pop by the 'Ask Me' stall in the Central Courtyard during O Week.
