Student Attendance Overview
Studying in Australia whilst on a student visa means you are legally obligated to attend 80 per cent of classes throughout the study period. Exemptions will be made in the case of serious illness or an unavoidable event where the minimum attendance cannot be made.
If your attendance is less than 90 per cent during a study period of five weeks or less, or, less than 85 per cent for a study period of more than five weeks, it will be requested for the student to attend an interview with student services regarding their absences.
If attendance continues to drop to a rate of 80 per cent and no substantial evidence has been provided, the student will receive an Intention to Report notice. If attendance then continues to drop below 70 per cent, the student will be reported regardless of any evidence provided.
