Accommodation: There is an assortment of housing options available in Viña del Mar and Santiago; the exchange coordinator at UAI helps students arrange housing, either alone or with other students. Students can expect to live in a very nice apartment, in a good neighborhood for less than $450 per month (single unit)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • In order to apply for study at UAI exchange students must confirm the application procedures with their universities of origin. After that, universities inform the list of nominated students to UAI and the filling of an application form will be required. 
  • Students are responsible for obtaining appropriate Health Insurance that covers their time in Chile. It is mandatory to obtain it. This health insurance must cover all the semester or year of study while in Chile. We will request a copy of it during Orientation Day. 
  • Student Visa is mandatory for all international students in Chile. The original UAI acceptance letter will be required in order to obtain the visa at the Chilean consulate. Once in Chile, students must complete the procedure following the indications given during the orientation session.

Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas.  

Program Costs: You remain enrolled at Macquarie University and continue to pay your tuition fees to Macquarie University. As an exchange student you pay no tuition fees to host university. However, you must also always be prepared for unexpected expenses, and should consider how you will be dealing with the expenses of your exchange before you leave your home country. Prior to departure, you will need to save sufficient funds to cover all of your expenses for the duration of your exchange. Some costs to consider include: airfares, students visa (if required), travel health insurance, accommodation, food, additional travel, entertainment, textbooks, incidental expense. If you wish to work while you are away, it is important to note that work rights for international students vary from country to country. For further information about your visa restrictions please contact the consulate or embassy of your host country."
