NEXT STEP PATHWAY MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE
Who
  • you're a current Higher School Certificate (HSC) student (or studying the equivalent) and are not confident of achieving the necessary ATAR for entry into your dream Macquarie degree or;
  • you're a non-school applicant (HSC or equivalent completed more than two years ago or over 21 years of age) without the required qualifications for direct entry into a bachelors degree.
  • Diploma programs: you must hold a Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification with a minimum ATAR of 60 or HSC (or interstate) board exam with minimum average mark* of 60.
  • Standard Foundation program: you must have completed a Year 11 (or equivalent) qualification with an overall average mark* of 50%.
  • Intensive program: you must hold a Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification with a minimum ATAR of 50 or HSC (or interstate) board exam with minimum average mark* of 50.

*Other factors are taken into consideration with your average mark, and therefore achieving the average mark does not guarantee you an offer. Only relevant State Board approved academic subjects are included when reviewing your average. For instance, in the New South Wales HSC, only results from Category A and B Board Developed courses are considered.

Duration

One year (6 months if you earn a GPA of at least 4.0 out of 7.0 in your first session after completing at least 2 units).

Diploma: 28 weeks (four terms of 6 teaching weeks plus orientation, exams and term breaks). 

Standard Foundation: 28 weeks (four terms of 6 teaching weeks plus orientation, exams and term breaks). 

Intensive Program: 14 weeks (two terms of 6 teaching weeks plus orientation, exams and term breaks).

Degree options

Upon successful completion of the Next Step program, you are eligible for entry into one of 18 Macquarie degrees.

When you successfully complete your diploma program, you will be guaranteed a place in the second year of a selected range of Macquarie University bachelor degrees and into the first year for Standard Foundation and Intensive programs (as long as you meet the entry requirements).

Fees

Paid upfront in full prior to each session. 

Tuition fees are charged in accordance with the subject area of the unit to be studied. 

HECS-HELP is available for Diploma programs. 

FEE-HELP is available for Standard Foundation and Intensive programs.
