The Walanga Muru Early Entry Pathway is run by Walanga Muru. Our Early Entry Pathway provides opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to study undergraduate level courses at Macquarie University.

We are holding a number of Early Entry Assessment days in the coming months (you only need to attend one of these days). These days not only give you an opportunity to demonstrate your skills, but also the opportunity to receive an offer before the start of the HSC!

What's involved?

You will need to attend an assessment day, so that we can assess whether you possess the minimum literacy requirements for a degree. The assessment is comprised of listening and reading comprehension and a short essay.  These assessments are an opportunity for you to show us your strengths and abilities and are not designed to be stressful.  All of the materials and information will be provided on the day as well as social activities and lunch. If you require mathematics for your desired degree, you may also be required to sit a short math exam.

These days are also an opportunity for you to come and meet other Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students looking at tertiary study for next year, to experience the Macquarie Campus and learn about the various services offered by Walanga Muru.

Can I apply?

The scheme is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. You can apply through this pathway even if you:

  • Would just like the peace of mind of an early offer
  • Haven’t completed your HSC or equivalent
  • Are non-award
  • Received an ATAR score lower than is required for admission to your chosen course
  • Are a mature age student
  • Would like the opportunity to meet other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who may be studying at Macquarie University next year

When are Assessment Days?

The upcoming assessment days are:

  1. Monday 28th August
  2. Thursday 28th September
  3. Saturday 28th October

Hear from our students

As soon as I heard about the Walanga Muru Early Entry Pathway, I knew Macquarie was the uni for me. Since starting my course I’ve received endless support, both with my uni work and home life. The staff at Walanga Muru are always available, even when I just want to have a chat. They have also provided me with countless opportunities to further develop my skills by introducing me to programs such as the NITV media mentorship. I honestly feel like I’m part of a family at Walanga Muru, and I wouldn’t have picked any other pathway into university.
