Become an endorsed or registered psychologistThe minimum requirement for general registration to practice as a psychologist is an accredited four year degree in psychology plus two years accredited postgraduate education and training. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered at Macquarie provide pathways for registration in a variety of areas of psychological practice. Registration as a psychologist is currently achieved through the Psychology Board of Australia. Pathways are subject to changes in national registration.

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) leads to further postgraduate study or a higher degree research program.

Please note that the continuation of the honours year is subject to meeting honours admission requirements.

How can I register as a psychologist?

In order to pursue a pathway to registration as a psychologist, students in the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology and Bachelor of Science - Psychology need to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) program subject to meeting transfer criteria.

Continuation with the honours year is subject to meeting honours admission requirements. Should a student not meet the requirements, they will graduate with the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology or Bachelor of Science - Psychology.

After the fourth year, a further two years postgraduate training or supervised experience is required for registration as a psychologist.
